Environmental Scientist (1099)

Professional Environmental Engineers, Inc. (PE) is a full-service environmental consulting firm that specializes in providing cost-effective environmental solutions for both government and commercial clientele. PE is seeking a 1099 Contracted Environmental Scientist that has 3+ years of environmental engineering and consulting experience to support projects in the Wichita, KS area. We desire a dynamic individual capable of performing soil and groundwater sampling activities. Specific assignments usually include one or more of the following: field sampling, well installation, site reconnaissance surveys, sampling and investigations, limited work plan and report preparation, and other activities requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the environmental consulting arena.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the environmental field with a focus in soil and groundwater sampling, documentation, and reporting support.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent – a college degree is a plus.
  • Familiarity with commonly accepted field data collection methods, data review, and preparation of scientific documents. Experience logging soil and installing monitoring wells is required.
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental regulatory programs, particularly those specific to Kansas. Experience with federal regulations, including CERCLA and RCRA, is a plus.
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER/Current 8-hr HAZWOPER Refresher is required.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Proficiency in computer software programs, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Limited travel outside of Wichita, KS.
