Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, Professional Environmental Engineers, Inc. (PE) is a full-service environmental engineering and consulting small business that specializes in providing cost-effective environmental solutions for both government and commercial clientele. PE is seeking a dynamic, ambitious, and versatile Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist to work out of our St Louis office that desires a variety of tasks, enjoys a fast-paced environment, likes new challenges and wants to grow, and is a team player. This role blends technical expertise with project management, ensuring compliance with client requirements and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience managing and executing environmental projects with complex soil, groundwater, and other media, as well as maintain a history of providing on-time, on-budget delivery of services and deliverables.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee Phase I ESAs and related due diligence projects, as well as Phase II ESAs, permitting, CERCLA/RCRA investigations, remedial design, environmental remediation, and environmental compliance inspections through monitoring and maintaining project schedules and budgets, evaluating project productivity and quality, and directing the complete technical operations of the project.
- Develop work plans, health and safety plans, field sampling plans, and sampling and analysis plans.
- Prepare soil boring logs, cross-sections, contour maps, well schematics, and site maps.
- Perform sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapor, and air and other field related tasks.
- Perform oversight of remediation projects.
- Prepare highly technical reports, tables, spreadsheets, and maps for client and regulatory agency review.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (environmental, civil, or chemical) or science (earth and planetary sciences, soil science, geophysics, hydrogeology, environmental geology, biology, or chemistry) with an environmental emphasis.
- At least 10 years of total experience and 5 years of Project Management experience
- Knowledge of geologic principles and local geologic framework, including the ability to independently identify local soil types using USCS or equivalent soil classification system and correlate site geology to regional geologic framework.
- Knowledge of environmental regulatory programs including but not limited to federal programs such as CERCLA, RCRA, and NEPA and state regulations such as Missouri Risk Based Corrective Action (MRBCA), Kansas Risk Based Standards, and the Illinois Site Remediation Program (SRP).
- Strong technical writing and technical presentation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective intra and inter-discipline coordination on projects, as well as effective communication with clients and vendors.
- Must be organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, work in a team environment and take direction from others and have the ability/desire to lead tasks.
- Proficient in computer software programs, particularly MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs occasionally.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel (less than 25%).
- OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER/Current 8-hr Refresher.
- Professional Engineer or Registered/Professional Geologist licensure
- Project Management Professional certification
- Wetlands Delineation certification
- ASTM Phase I ESA Training
- Experience with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Inspections and developing Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans.
