USACE – Grissom Air Reserve Base

Professional Environmental Engineers, Inc. (PE) successfully completed Environmental Baseline Surveys (EBSs) on 11 different sites located within the vicinity of the Grissom Air Reserve Base (GARB) behalf of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Louisville District and the United States Air Reserve (USAR). An EBS documents the nature, magnitude, and extent of any environmental contamination of property or interests in real property considered for out-grant, acquisition, or disposal. The document also identifies potential environmental contamination liabilities associated with a given transaction and provides enough information to assess health and safety risks.

GARB is located in Peru, Bunker Hill, and Galveston, Indiana. The properties were developed with a variety of buildings including a radar approach control facility, administrative and storage buildings, a former fire station, an electric utility building, a communications facility, and vacant land.

Completing the tasks of the Task Order (TO) also included the development of a Project Management Plan (PMP), a written Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP), which included an Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA). Tasks associated with the EBSs included Records Search and Review, On-Site Inspoection, Interviews, and the preparation of individual EBS reports. Submittals of the reports included a Draft, Draft Final, and Final version.

During the course of the TO, PE completed montly progress reports, prepared a detailed project schedule, generated meeting minutes during a pre-scoping teleconference and any subsequent progress meetings. PE also prepared, compiled, and maintained an administrative record of pertinent documents and other information related to the activities associated with the TO.
